Wednesday, February 21, 2007

The Atlanta Regional Director, Mayor Bob Young; Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charles Bannister; and Bob Reavis, Atlanta Multifamily Hub Director, join in the ribbon cutting ceremony for Rainbow Heights. This 52-unit property is located in Snellville, Georgia, and was developed with a $3,690,500 Capital Advance from HUD under the Section 202 program. In addition to the Capital Advance, operating expenses will also be provided through a Project Based Rental Assistance Contract of $138,000 annually.

The property is located in an established suburban district of Gwinnett County. Shopping and amenities are located nearby. Because public transportation is not readily available in Gwinnett County, the sponsor group - Center for Pan Asian Community Services, will provide transportation to medical facilities and areas of recreation. Rainbow Heights is a beautiful, well-constructed facility that will serve the community well and is a great addition to Gwinnett County.

All but three of the units were occupied the first month of opening and there are currently 40 persons on the waiting list.

The Center for Pan Asian Community Services is a first time HUD Capital Advance recipient and this is the first Section 202 development built in Georgia by an Asian Sponsor.
