2000 Best Practice Symposium
Agenda
The HUD Best Practices and Technical Assistance
2000 Symposium will be held August 7th-10th, 2000 at the Washington Hilton
and Towers in Washington, DC. Registration for the symposium will begin
at 8:30am on Monday, August 7th. While the conference will showcase the
achievements of communities and groups selected for Best Practices awards,
there will also be workshops and exhibits presented by Best Practice winners
from 1999 and 2000. The symposium will conclude on Thursday with an awards
breakfast for the top 100 Best Practices. Participants will also be allotted
time throughout the four day event to visit the cinema showcase, technology
room, resource room, and the Exhibit Hall, which will house 150+ Best Practice
exhibits.
The agenda is structured around 8 tracks -
Community Development, Economic Development, Homeownership/Safety &
Security, Fair Housing/Housing Counseling, Public Housing/Client Services,
Special Needs Housing/Youth Empowerment, Affordable Housing, and Neighborhood
Networks - and the workshops will provide technical assistance in several
areas, including operations, strategy, and technology. Although the agenda
is still being developed, and therefore subject to change, the links below
provide an overview of the tentative daily events:
