Center for Community and Interfaith Partnerships

Andrew Cuomo, Secretary for Housing and Urban Development, announces the creation of a new Center at HUD: HUD Center for Community and Interfaith Partnerships.

The goal of this Center, which is not a new funding source at HUD, is to work directly with those of you involved in community development corporations, not-for-profit groups, community organizing activities and faith-based groups.

Its purpose will be to focus, integrate and intensify our efforts in working WITH you, and to work together to help make the Center a more active partner in the grass-roots empowerment movement in the areas of housing and economic development.

Its objectives include:

  1. to comprehensively and actively solicit feedback and appropriate response to HUD's outreach regarding housing and urban development issues;
  2. to communicate HUD actively to community and faith-based constituencies, including the least-well-off;
  3. to coordinate the use of HUD's resources, both internally and externally;
  4. to seek new private and public partnerships on the local, regional and national levels.

    Rev. Joseph R. Hacala, S.J., Director
    Special Assistant for Community and Interfaith Outreach
