The Government's Use of the Web
- The federal government has been using the web since 1995
- Presently, there are an estimated 24,000 federal websites
- A cross-agency Working Group has developed requirements and recommendations to help make U.S. government websites the most citizen-focused in the world.
- The result of the cross-agency effort is a website called the Web Content Managers Toolkit, found at www.webcontent.gov
- We've learned many important lessons through trial and error…but most of all, we've learned that citizens want to be able to come to the web to find good, objective, easy-to-use content that answers their questions.
- As public service organizations, you can expect the same demands from the public…so take a look at this new website - it's a great resource.
