On January 15th, young adults ages 16-24 - residents of Eufaula Housing Authority, saw the fruits of their perseverance. They were part of the first group of YouthBuild program graduates at this housing agency. Prior to graduation they received adult education classes, soft-skills training, leadership development, and vocational skills training in welding, air conditioning & refrigeration, and electrical fields. At the end of their program they acquired graduation diplomas and construction certificates.

This first group of graduates is a tangible result of the $1.1 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor to the Eufaula Housing Authority. The 36-month grant it is expected to serve approximately 20 youth per year. Tom Wachs, Executive Director of the housing authority expects a larger graduation group next year.
