The Alexander City Housing Authority (ACHA) team won the MLK Southeastern Regional basketball tournament earlier this year. The competition was held in Laurel, Mississippi, where the winning team, ages 15-18, also visited an art museum and attended an academic achievement banquet.

Local authorities and coaches from participating housing authorities promote activities and encourage the young athletes and students’ performance, as they are becoming youth role models in their communities.
