The Alabama Association of Housing & Redevelopment Authorities (AAHRA) held their Spring Workshop on March 21 through 23rd. Hundreds of public housing staff from around the state attended and were provided with essential training and updates.

Alabama Field Office Director, Kenneth Free, provided opening remarks. The workshop had different tracks attendees could pursue. Shirlyn Garner, P&C Director for Alabama, provided fair housing training. Velma Byron, Alabama PIH Director, Angela Davis, Division Director, Debra Bean, Division Director, provided information on public housing updates and collaboration opportunities for PHAs. Monette Johnson, Asset Resolution Specialist at the Jacksonville Field Office, discussed the RAD program.

AAHRA pushes for decent, safe, sanitary housing for the low-income citizens of Alabama. HUD looks forward to continuing to work with them.
