HUD Regional Administrator Ophelia Basgal participated in a press conference with California Attorney General Kamala Harris on August 18 at the California State Building in San Francisco. Harris announced success in suing several attorneys who perpetrated fraud on unsuspecting Californians seeking home loan modifications. Ms. Basgal spoke about the warning signs of a potential fraud and HUD programs such as "Know It, Avoid It, Report It." She also told folks how and where consumers can report suspected fraud.
