The new 5,870 square foot building located at 2980 Curtis Street is adjacent to the existing Curtis Park Community Center. The land was donated by the City and County of Denver to the Denver Housing Authority (DHA). DHA used approximately $723,000 of HOPE VI funds to construct and furnish the new facility. On May 18, 2004, the DHA Board of Commissoners approved resolution no. 2266 naming the building "King Trimble Center" in recognition of King Trimble's lasting impact on the city of Denver.

The operating hours for the King Trimble Center are Monday - Friday 6:30am to 7:00pm and Saturday from 8:00-4:00. Programs include Dreams, Computer Classes and Youth Media program as described below.

DREAMS
DREAMS is an afterschool program designed to provide personal development, character building life skills, homework assistance, supplemental education, technology skills, and recreational activities to K-8th grade students. Instructors/case managers work closely with school teachers and parents to ensure participants are excelling in all areas of their lives. The program is broken-down into 2 segments; K-5th grade and 6th-8th grade. K-5th grade students focus on teaching the fundamentals of how to be a good person, a good student and a good community member, while providing youth with the know-how and confidence to achieve their goals and making responsible, positive decisions.

SR D.R.E.A.M.S. for the 6th-9th grade students focuses on providing youth with service learning activities to reinforce the importance of the following class topics: recognizing social pitfalls, refusal skills, decision making, and staying in school. This is a 10-week class that also encompasses, recreation, computer education, homework assistance, and video training. Summer Activities: Summer Day Camp provides K-5 students with fun summer activities. The environmental curriculum is thematic and allows for both learning and recreational activities. Youth Camp, focusing on computer literacy, media technology, and recreation is available for middle and high school youth. This program is daily and year round.

Computer Classes
Introduction to Windows, Introduction to Office, and Introduction to the Internet classes are available both during the day and evenings. These classes are designed for the beginner who needs basic computer skills in order to enter the workforce. Open lab times are also available for students to practice their new skills. Classes are held daily and each session lasts an average of four weeks with overlapping sessions throughout the year.

Youth Media Program
This training is designed to teach middle and high school youth the importance of story and the value of their own stories with a strong emphasis on media literacy. Participants gain hands-on experience in digital storytelling with high tech video production equipment. Disciplines learned include scripting, interviewing, camera operations, lighting, and editing. Classes are held daily. Sessions vary and are year round.

In addition, the following groups will have access to the facility to provide CSS services as part of the HOPE VI program.

Denver Area Youth Services provides youth groups, adult Life Skills classes and substance abuse counseling to Curtis Park HOPE VI residents

Metropolitan State College provides early learning education home-based services to Curtis Park HOPE VI residents.

MiCasa Resource Center for Women provides access to entrepreneurial-ship training.

Urban League of Metro Denver provides job training, job readiness, job skills development and job placement.

HealthSET provides health education and health care coordination to senior and disabled Curtis Park HOPE VI residents.
