At the 24th Annual Affordable Housing Management Association (AHMA) conference held this fall, Marcie LaPorte, Director, Denver Multifamily Hub, presented the annual "HUD Manager of the Year" to Ms. Anna Strobl, Director of Affordable Housing Services, Volunteers of America, Denver, Colorado. Ms. Strobl was recognized for her outstanding accomplishments and professionalism in the real estate management industry. Over the past year, she devoted a majority of her time toward housing hurricane evacuees and overseeing a huge renovation project at a Section 8 subsidized high-rise in downtown Denver. HUD appreciates Ms. Strobl's dedication and commitment to keep the best interests of the residents in mind and to go beyond the responsibilities of a property manager.
AHMA also presented the "HUD Special Recognition Award for Commitment to Excellence in Affordable Housing" to Marcie LaPorte. The board president, Phil Carroll, Community Housing Services, Salt Lake City, Utah, stated, "Marcie exemplifies the desired spirit of partnership between HUD and our industry. Throughout the years, her professionalism, industry knowledge and genuine ability to care about management agents and the clients we serve have remained sincere." Over 300 were in attendance at the conference and the information presented during the many sessions was well received by the attendees.
