Phoenix on the FAX Summary

On Thursday, October 28th HUD Region 8 Regional Administrator Rick M. Garcia, along with Denver City Councilmember Marcia Johnson, announced plans to develop the Phoenix on the FAX multifamily housing project. Phoenix on the FAX will provide 50 affordable housing units. It will also has a planned restaurant in the vibrant Park Hill neighborhood located on East Colfax Avenue. Phoenix on the FAX will be built in accordance with Enterprise Green criteria, ensuring it is a sustainable multifamily building. Phoenix on the FAX has truly been a collaborative effort among Councilmember Johnson, George Sherman and Ryan Sailer of Sherman Associates, and Shawne Ahlenius of the FAX partnership, a coalition committed to revitalizing Colfax Avenue. HUD and other federal agencies committed more than $350,000 through the HUD HOME grant funds, $6,206,135 through Low Income Housing Tax Credits, and $1,018,285 through the Tax Credit Assistance Program to help finance the project. The project represents the first significant investment on East Colfax Avenue in years. It will add to the vitality of the neighborhood. Phoenix on the FAX signifies a major catalyst for development in the lively East Colfax neighborhood.
