New Property Completion and Tour

HUD Regional Administrator Rick Garcia, Multifamily Director Marcie LaPorte and staff from Denver's Multifamily Hub Program joined the 14 residents and Volunteers of America (VOA) Colorado President Diana Kunz and staff to celebrate the completion and tour a new property. The apartments are at 9900 E. Girard Place in Southeast Denver, Colorado. It was built with Section 811 funding, a grant program for housing for people with disabilities. Resident Debra Powerskniss smiled when she opened the door to show her apartment. She said, "I am thrilled to live here." As she walked through her newly furnished kitchen, living room and bedroom, Ms. Powerskniss explained that she is much happier in her new, clean living space. She is close to the bus stop and the stores. HUD provided Capital Advance funding to develop the property and Project Rental Assistance totaling $2,215,029.
