HUD HOSTS BUSINESS CONFERENCE AND GRANT-WRITING TRAINING
Events in Durango free of charge and open to public

DENVER - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is presenting the Four Corners Business Development Conference May 15, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and a grant-writing training workshop on May 16-17,
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both events will be held in the ballroom of the College Union Building, Fort Lewis College.

Trainers from HUD, Fort Lewis College Small Business Development Center, the U.S. Small Business Administration,
Fort Lewis College, Region 9 Economic Development District, Brainstorm Internet and Enterprise Center will instruct classes in business plans, bookkeeping, financing, marketing, computer technology, and available resources. Small business owners, minority business owners, and entrepreneurs interested in starting new businesses will find this conference especially helpful.

The grant-writing workshop will describe the formation of a non-profit organization, building capacity, accessing funding, creating a proposal and preparing a competitive grant application. The session will cover principles and
helpful tips in developing applications for local, state, federal, and foundation funds.
