HUD WILL ANNOUCE FUNDING TO ABATE LEAD IN DENVER

DENVER - At 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2011, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will make
a major Healthy Homes funding announcement. Regional Administrator Rick M. Garcia will announce the City of Denver will receive a HUD grant that targets homes needing lead abatement located in low-income neighborhoods. The grant supports the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s goal of eliminating childhood lead poisoning by controlling lead-based paint hazards in privately owned housing. HUD Regional Administrator Rick Garcia will present a ceremonial check to Denver officials at a Globeville neighborhood home to be served through the program.
