North Hartford Promise Zone hosts housing fair at EnVision Center

Hartford residents stop to speak with HUD staff at the Housing Resource Fair at the Parker Memorial EnVision Center. The event was hosted by the North Hartford Promise Zone.

The North Hartford Promise Zone hosted a Homeowners and Renters Resource Fair at the Parker Memorial EnVision Center. Over 100 Hartford residents attended the housing fair and observed presentations from various community organizations who offer programs in lead remediation, energy efficiency, financial literacy, fair housing, rental assistance and emergency home repairs, and then had the opportunity to speak directly with those organizations with any questions they had.

HUD Single Family Housing Program Specialist Sally Nieves and CPD Representative Craig Kleman staffed a HUD booth at the fair and provided information on HUD-associated affordable rental housing as well as HUD's single-family programs.

Since January 2018, the North Hartford Promise Zone's Housing Workgroup has coordinated two previous Home Improvement Informational Sessions at Parker Memorial Community Center, New England's only EnVision Center, located in the heart of the North Hartford Promise Zone. The sessions helped to provide knowledge and training to homeowners to increase self-sufficiency in navigating home improvement applications.
