Federal Task Force for
Faith-Based and Community Initiatives
Meet in Atlanta

On March 2, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia, Bob Young, Atlanta Regional Director for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, chaired the first meeting of the year for the Southeast Regional Federal Task Force for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. As chairman, Mr. Young engaged the task force members from several federal agencies in conversation about their upcoming agendas. He discussed budget concerns for travel and encouraged more local collaboration and partnerships in conferences. He shared with the group that his office would use HUD's websites to assist with marketing and outreach for each of the federal agencies represented on the task force. The task force members also discussed their agency's participation and involvement in Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma relief recovery efforts.

Task force representatives at this meeting included the Departments of Education, Agriculture, Labor, Health and Human Services as well as the Center for Disease Control, Small Business Administration and HUD. The next meeting date for the Southeast Federal Task Force is scheduled for Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the HUD Atlanta Office.
