When the Tampa Bay area counts the persons experiencing homelessness, it does it a little later than the rest of the country. Instead of end of January, Antionette Triplett, Executive Director of the Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative has noted better data from the area when collected around February.

The Homeless Count in Hillsborough County (http://thhi.org/about-homelessness/homeless-counts/) takes place with several teams who observe and conduct surveys for 24 hours to determine an approximate number of people who are homeless in the Tampa Bay area. This year the information was collected electronically to help the tracking of data.

The Point in Time (www.hudexchange.info/programs/hdx/guides/pit-hic/#general-pit-guides-and-tools) Count took place on February 28th. Jemine Bryon, HUD Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development, Caitlin Moratin from the Office of Special Needs Assistance Programs, and Alesia Scott Ford from the Jacksonville Office joined the Tampa team in the count.
