Panama City neighborhood cleanups, debris removal and repairs, were the activities selected by a youth group from Jacksonville wanting to help make a difference.

Youth and spring break bring memories of idle days playing video games, fun at the beach, at sleep-away camp, or a family vacation. For 42 youth and chaperons from Jacksonville, their dreams were of innovation, help, and meaningful service projects in Panama City.

A HUD representative in the Jacksonville office shared with fellow parishioners at home about the devastation in the Panhandle area after Hurricane Michael. The church, Evangel Temple Assembly of God, moved to action. The youth group partnered with a local church in Panama City for logistics and accommodations and decided to travel for their Spring break week to help make a difference.

They helped with neighborhood cleanups, debris removal and repairs at public housing complexes Fletcher Black and Massalina. They also assisted seven elderly and disabled homeowners, and aided at two churches, Callaway Assembly of God, and their partner project and host for the week, First Assembly of God.
