In celebration of National Homeownership Month, HUD Deputy Secretary
Alphonso Jackson presented the City of Decatur and the Decatur/DeKalb
Housing Authority with a commendation for the Villages at Oakhurst.
Deputy Secretary Jackson also recognized DeKalb County for its support
of homeownership initiatives and of the Oakhurst neighborhood revitalization
effort.
Among the funds which have supported the Oakhurst neighborhood
revitalization:
HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds - development of affordable housing for homeownership HUD Section 811 Program - development of rental housing for the disabled Private funds - renovation of the Historic Scottish Rite Hospital
