Bob Young, HUD Atlanta Regional Director, was the keynote speaker at the Grand Opening for the Kensington Heights Subdivision in South Fulton County, Georgia held, June 29, 2005. This subdivision is a new, private, mixed-income neighborhood with 38 of the 95 building sites set aside for affordable housing units. Homes in the subdivision range from $140,000 to $160,000. Scenic Homes of Stockbridge is the builder in Kensington Heights and three upscale designs with amenities such as sunken living/family rooms, vaulted ceilings and meticulous landscaping are offered. The development of the Subdivision includes incentives from both the Department of Housing and Urban Development and Fulton County Government. Fulton County utilized HOME Program funds for the purchase of the land, and is using American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI) funds to provide downpayment assistance to income qualified families who are first time homebuyers. Over half of the homes in the Kensington Heights Subdivision will have FHA mortgage insurance.
