The Atlanta Regional Director, Mayor Bob Young, and U. S. State Representative Phil Gingrey, join in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Jared House, a Section 811 Group Home in Cartersville, Georgia. The group home was funded with a $275,000 HUD Capital Advance, and it was built on one acre of land donated by the Cartersville First Baptist Church. In addition to the donation of land, church members donated $20,000 to furnish the home. Regional Director Bob Young praised the community's effort in making the Jared House a reality.

Congressman Phil Gingrey called the ribbon cutting of the Jared House a "labor of love" to the handicapped adults who will live at the home. He thanked everyone involved for " . . . helping people who through absolutely no fault of their own were born with challenges they will forever struggle with in their lives."

The Jared House is the 11th group home built by the Cobb Association of Retarded Citizens, and they now house 44 handicapped adults in these homes. Nearly 250 individuals are still on a waiting list for homes like the Jared House.
