With a crowd of over 150 local area small business owners and county and local leaders attending the November 4, 2010 12th Annual DeKalb County Small Business Development Conference, HUD Southeast Regional Administrator Ed Jennings, Jr. conveyed the message that there are numerous small business opportunities with HUD and the federal government overall.

These messages of opportunity complimented a full day of activities ranging from "Going green in a down economy" to "Creative ways to finance your business" to "How to do business with the federal government".

"Our economy was on the brink as we were losing over 753,000 jobs a month the steepest decline in decades. But that began to change under the Obama Administration. The road to recovery will take time but we will be successful as we all recognize the critical role that small business plays in job creation and economic prosperity" said Ed Jennings, Jr.

DeKalb County is a diverse community with over 700,000 residents and the conference addressed the special needs and concerns of small business and delivered current information to assist small business development.
