On December 6, 2010 Southeast Region Deputy Regional Administrator Karen Jackson Sims participated in a Ribbon Cutting ceremony marking the completion of a green, energy efficient, affordable model home in the historic Reynoldstown neighborhood - located on the proposed Atlanta Beltline.

The project partners' goal was to implement the objectives of the HUD-DOT-EPA Sustainable Housing and Communities Partnership by producing an energy efficient and affordable home adjacent to major transportation portals and the Atlanta BeltLine. In addition to HUD, representatives from EPA, DOT, City of Atlanta, Habitat for Humanity, JP Morgan Chase, Congressional Offices, Resources for Residents and Communities, MARTA, etc. participated.

This unique partnership represents a fresh approach to producing reasonably priced homes that are more energy efficient; less costly to occupy; more durable and easier to maintain; and more water efficient, and healthier to inhabit.
