In addition to the HUD staff, attendees included multi-family lenders; attorneys participating in loan closings for HUD Multifamily projects; and third party analysts including appraisers, architects, environmental consultants, market analysts, construction analysts and construction inspectors. HUD Multifamily training was presented by key staff members and was highlighted by instruction on the 3 "P's" Processing, Production Levels, Programmatic Changes, MAP Guide Updates / 223f LIHTC Program Modifications and Fair Housing, Green Construction, PCNA, a7.

"The Tenth Annual SMAC Conference is truly a major milestone in our enduring partnership," said Ed Jennings, Jr. HUD Region IV Regional Administrator. "I would also like to especially recognize and thank Bob Reavis, Director, Atlanta Multifamily Hub as he nears retirement for his 42 years of unparalleled professional service and sacrifice on behalf of those we serve."

Additionally, the HUD Green Refinance Plus Program was announced during Jennings remarks to conference attendees. The Green Refinance Plus Program preserves HUD affordable rental stock and helps finance upgrades that will save energy and money over the long haul. Green Refinance Plus is intended to refinance the expiring mortgages of Low Income Housing Tax Credit and other affordable projects and to lower annual operating costs by reducing energy consumption.

The conference, which had over 200 attendees, served to provide updates on the latest HUD Multifamily programs and also reinforced the ongoing relationships between HUD and industry partners.

The Southeast Mortgagee Advisory Council (the "Council" or "SMAC") is established to provide constructive advice and support to HUD's Multifamily Hub office leadership and staff and to improve the effective delivery of FHA multifamily mortgage insurance programs.
