HUD GA and GA DCA Staff meeting.

Most recently the HUD Georgia Field Office team under the leadership of Michael German met with the State of Georgia, Department of Community Affairs (DCA), (http://www.dca.ga.gov/)Commissioner Camila Knowles and her staff to build stronger bonds of informational exchange and operational effectiveness. The discussion conducted in the DCA headquarters in Atlanta presented a unique opportunity for both HUD and the state to discuss cross program collaboration and to gain new insights into what the state and HUD could do to improve services for those they mutually serve.

"Our combined efforts are making a difference in the lives of those we serve and it was encouraging to learn of those accomplishments first hand and what we can do to help as well," said German.

DCA provides a variety of community development programs to help the state's communities realize their growth and development goals and offers a variety of economic development incentives and tools designed to help promote growth and job creation throughout the state. Additionally, DCA helps ensure all of Georgia's citizens have the opportunity to find safe and affordable housing through a range of programs designed to foster new housing development, homeownership, and improved housing choices.

Leaders from HUD Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, Community Plans and Development and Multifamily Housing and Public Affairs to include Single Family Housing participated in the discussions.

Future meetings are under discussion to help strengthen and build on this informational exchange based on the benefits gained with more frequent outcome and place based dialogue.
