Last month, Regional Administrator José Alvarez, Shea Johnson, Georgia Field Office Director, and Adrian Fields, Community Planning and Development Director, met at the office of CaringWorks, Inc. The Georgia nonprofit is working to end homelessness by providing access to housing and services that foster dignity, self-sufficiency, and well-being. They were joined by Carol Collard, Chief Executive Officer, Ashlee Starr, Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Burkes, Director of Residential Services, and Ailene Gordon, RISE Fulton Program Director.

The CaringWorks Fulton RISE project provides permanent supportive housing to 15 women only ages 55 and up in Fulton County. The organization works closely with the Fulton Continuum of Care coordinated assessment team to identify potential clients. Most of the clients in this program are chronically homeless, battle mental illness, have health issues, and have substance abuse issues. In addition to the meeting, HUD leaders got an opportunity to visit Shannon Woods Apartments, where they toured two units and interacted with the residents. "It was uplifting to hear how CaringWorks inspired hope and pride in their homes," said Shea Johnson, Georgia Field Office Director.
