Atlanta Habitat for Humanity transforms communities by acting as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization through education, innovative development, partnerships, and long-term relationships with families and has empowered thousands of families through homeownership since 1983. As the largest nonprofit, affordable single-family housing developer in the city and one of the largest affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International, Atlanta Habitat works tirelessly toward neighborhood revitalization and encourages homeowners to pursue educational and professional goals that positively impact families for years to come.

Wednesday, July 18th RA Alvarez, Georgia FOD Shea Johnson, and CPD Director Adrian Fields met with Habitat for Humanity International CEO Jonathan Reckford for a meet-and-greet to discuss collaborative efforts between the two organizations. During this meeting, the group discussed the need for affordable housing and strategies to address this issue. HUD's now in the beginning stages of planning a round table focused on affordable housing in Atlanta, including entities such as Habitat for Humanity, the City of Atlanta, and Atlanta Housing.

Region IV Georgia FOD Shea Johnson said "HUD will continue coordinating efforts with Habitat for Humanity to stay informed about affordable housing success stories and address housing needs as appropriate."
