The Gordon House held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the opening of the 4-bedroom, brick group home developed to serve very low-income persons with developmental disabilities. The Gordon House was developed with a capital advance of $259,800 under the Section 811 Program, Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities. The Gordon House is intended to serve men and boys and has been decorated with prints of wildlife and other outdoor scenes.

The Association of Retarded Citizens of Cobb County, Inc. (ARC Cobb) is the project sponsor. ARC Cobb's successful efforts in soliciting contributions from local organizations and individuals lets them provide enhancements to the project beyond those amenities that could be funded with the capital advance alone. They have developed six group homes over the last several years and are a very successful sponsor of Section 811 Program assisted developments.

Speakers at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony included Brian E. Noyes, HUD Regional Director for Region IV; Samuel S. Olens, Chairman, Cobb County Board of Commissioners; Darrell Tapp, President of the Sponsor - ARC Cobb;Brenda Mull, Director, Multifamily Project Management, Atlanta Multifamily Hub.
