THOMACINA (TOMMI) W. BROWN, DETROIT HUD FIELD OFFICE SELECTED AS SUPERVISORY OPERATIONS OFFICER ATLANTA HUD REGIONAL OFFICE

ATLANTA - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Atlanta Regional Director Bob Young today
announced that Ms. Thomacina (Tommi) W. Brown, Field Policy and Management Operations Specialist of the Detroit HUD Field Office, has been selected as the Supervisory Operations Officer for the HUD Atlanta Regional Office.

In this position, Ms. Brown will serve as the Supervisory Operations Officer to the Regional Director. She is
responsible for supervising the immediate Field Policy and Management Office Staff. She ensures that the
operational functions of the office are carried out, coordinating community and customer service issues, Secretarial initiatives, helping resolve program delivery problems for the various office jurisdictions, administering the Human Resource functions of the office, overseeing EEO and Labor Management responsibilities, and managing and coordinating FPM and Office-wide Management plan.

"We are very pleased that we are able to have someone of Ms. Brown's caliber to join the leadership team of HUD
in Region IV as our "Chief of Staff". Ms. Brown's HUD experience, private sector experience and leadership skills will
be a great asset to us in this Region," said Regional Director Young.

Since 2003, Ms. Brown has held the position of Operations Specialist in the Detroit HUD Field Office, as well as the informal Deputy Director position, providing direct support and assistance to the Field Office Director in the day-to-day management of the office and staff. Her HUD experience includes: Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) Program Analyst, FHEO Acting Center Director, Community Builder/Project Manager/Community Builder Fellow, and
HUD Detroit Community Planning and Development (CPD) - Acting Deputy Director, Program Manager, Urban Renewal Representative, CPD Representative, and Chief of Program Support Division.

Her local government experience includes, Executive Director of the Pontiac Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.,
in Pontiac, Michigan, where she managed a non-profit organization established to implement various community revitalization programs and projects such as homeownership counseling, housing rehabilitation and new housing construction. Also, she has held the positions of the Special Projects Director, for Wayne County Jobs and Economic Development Department in Detroit and the Deputy Director of the Community and Economic Development
Department of the City of Detroit.

Ms. Brown is a graduate of Fisk University with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and she has completed
postgraduate course work in Public Administration at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
