To commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors (DMAAR) formed a human Equal Housing Logo. On a recent springtime Saturday afternoon 300 participating realtors were given either a black t-shirt with a white logo or a white T-shirt with a black logo to form the human Fair Housing logo.

As the human logo was formed, Iowa State Representative Wayne Ford talked about Fair Housing in Des Moines, in Iowa and across the nation. The committee made up of Anne Bickell, Jay Hytone and Tim Meline, Des Moines Area realtors, organized the logo before the event so well that the actual formation took only 30 minutes. Realtors don't make money standing around, but on this Saturday morning all 300 realtors stood in place during the program.

Jay Hytone, one of the organizers said, "Many realtors realizing the importance of Fair Housing toward ensuring an America where equality and opportunity in housing is not simply a goal, but a right, shook his hand as they left. They were proud to be a part of this event."
