On April 13, 2010, Cynthia Ferrell, HUD Equal Opportunity Specialist, hand delivered Franklin the Fair Housing Fox costume to the Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission for their education/outreach events to promote Fair Housing Month in April 2010. Franklin the Fox was worn by Karl Cassell, Executive Director of the Commission. Franklin spoke to approximatley 25 children at the Boys and Girls Club and 15 children at the Jane Boyd Community Center. Stephanie Robinson of the Cedar Rapids Commission read a story called "Sneetches" by Dr. Suess, and Shylo Bundy distributed fair housing information with gifts and candy to the children.

Franking the Fair Housing is part of a national campaign by HUD to educate children across the country about the Fair Housing Act and the protections it affords. For more information, visit Franklin's Fair Housing Corner.
