In a renewed effort to broaden the participation of small, minority and disadvantaged businesses in HUD contracts, the Secretary's office recently sponsored an informational session in Chicago. The meeting was held in anticipation of the soon to bepublished Request for Proposals (RFP) for first to handle the management and marketing of HUD owned real estate.

The new contracts will involve the delivery by contractors of the entire scope of services relating to the disposition of HUD-owned properties that have been taken back in the foreclosure process.

To improve opportunities for small business, the Department is hosting informational meetings in a few key cities around the country.

B.J. Douglass, Office of the Secretary's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business, told the group, "we want to ensure that 8-a, Women-Owned, Service Disabled Veterans, and those business located in historically underutilized business zones are treated fairly and are proved an opportunity to compete and be selected for a fair amounts of HUD direct contract dollars."
