Chicago and Peoria Faith and Community Based Organizations
to Receive Special Training

A training conference for faith-based and community-based organizations in Chicago and Peoria will be held February 18-19, 2003 in Chicago at the Bethel New Life Center's Amberg Hall. The Center is located at 1140 North lamon Street in Chicago. This is one block west of Cicero and a half block south of Division.

The training focus is on organizations that are doing economic development or have plans to be involved in economic development. Participants will learn from successful organizations and leading organizational and community development experts the practical steps to developing effective nonprofit organizations that are viable and sustainable. Topics include strategic planning, Board Development, Staff Development, and Sustainability Planning.

Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (http://hhs.gov/fbci/) (HHS) Compassion Capital Fund to provide technical and financial assistance to community and faith-based organizations in 6 cities. Participants will be invited to apply for the technical and financial assistance grants; a limited number will be awarded on a competitive basis.
