Regional Director Galvan to Help Springfield
Observe Fair Housing Month

HUD Regional Director Joseph Galvan will speak at an April 11th luncheon commemorating the 35th anniversary of passage of the Fair Housing Act and the role that Springfield groups played in helping to ensure passage of this landmark legislation.

The commemorative luncheon is sponsored by the Capital Area Association of REALTORS Equal Opportunity in Housing Committee (http://www.seehouses.info/) and a number of local community groups are sponsoring a couple of activities to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968. On Saturday, April 12th at White Oaks Mall in Springfield some forty organizations will set up booths and offer housing-related services and information to the public at the Fair Housing Expo. Visitors will have an opportunity to "Ask the Experts," including the U.S. Department of HUD, questions about Fair Housing and various other topics, such as credit, energy conservation, radon, landscaping, mine subsidence, lead paint, mold, etc. The REALTORS, Springfield CRA Council, Springfield Area Homebuilders Association, and the Association of Mortgage Professionals sponsor the Fair.
