The Salvation Army and the City of Chicago Department of Human Services recently teamed up to present an outreach event for the City's homeless individuals. More than 200 persons attended the event at the Army's Harbor Light Center on the west side of Chicago. They were able to make contact with some 20 social service agencies that provide homeless assistance. In the photo above, Jim Vanecek Homeless Coordinator for the Chicago Public Schools provides information to an event participant. Also present: the Social Security Administration, Mayors Office Workforce Investment, Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as other groups. Participants were able to access medical, eye care, clothing, job placement and other services at the event.
