John Hall brings with him solid knowledge of neighborhood issues and how important it is for families to live in a safe, stable neighborhood and have the opportunity for homeownership. He leads the Indianapolis office of 87 people and an additional three in Gary. The staff is responsible for administering more than $470 million in grants to Indiana communities.

Since joining HUD, John has been meeting with mayors, housing authority executives, community development professionals, and others to get an understanding of the strengths and challenges of each of the communities in the State.

Recently, he and HUD Indiana Public Housing Director, Forrest Jones visited Gary for a meeting with Mayor Scott King and a tour of city projects. They visited areas receiving empowerment zone funds, and Community Development Block Grant and HOME funding. They also viewed the HOPE VI public housing site, a homeless project and single-family housing developments.
