THE BOARD OF THE GARY HOUSING AUTHORITY APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Julian Marsh appointed as Executive Director of the Gary Housing Authority

GARY, IN - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) controlled Board of the Gary Housing Authority appointed Julian Marsh to serve as the new Executive Director to lead day-to-day operations.

Julian Marsh comes to the Gary Housing Authority with over 30 years of leadership experience in the field. He previously served as Executive Director for numerous housing authorities including the Housing Authority of the City of New Bern North Carolina; the Decatur Housing Authority in Illinois; and the Petersburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority in Virginia among other leadership positions.

Antonio R. Riley, HUD Midwest Regional Administrator indicated, "following a nationwide search, Julian Marsh was selected to lead the Gary Housing Authority to help facilitate long-term sustainability given his vast experience in the field and commitment to the residents he has served."

Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson said, "As we are anxious to address a number of challenges that face the Gary Housing Authority (GHA), we feel confident the experience exhibited by Julian Marsh will be of great benefit to the Authority. We want to change the quality of life for GHA residents and we look forward to Mr. Marsh's commitment helping us to move in that direction. We are appreciative to HUD for the partnership."

The Gary Housing and HUD entered into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement in June 2013, to address challenges that had been pervasive as the housing authority had been in troubled status since August 2003. The Gary Housing Authority currently remains under Receivership status.
