HUD participates in National Urban League Economic Empowerment Tour in Louisville, Kentucky

More than 400 people attended the Restore Our Home Rescue Fair at the National Urban League Economic Empowerment Tour held in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday, September 15th. Housing counseling agencies, lenders, HUD, Freddie Mac, Kentucky Housing Corporation, and many other partners were on hand to provide counseling and resources to those wanting more information about homeownership and avoiding foreclosure.

Home Rescue Fair Workshops were provided on topics that included: Foreclosure 101; Crisis Budgeting; Avoiding Loan Fraud; The President's Making Home Affordable Plan; and Energy Conservation and Weatherization. Of those in attendance, 39 percent were more than 90 days late in their mortgage payments; 25 percent were 30-90 days late in their payments; 7 percent were current in their mortgage payments, but expected difficulty in the future; and 26 percent were current in their mortgage payment with no expected difficulty in the near future. A Career and Job Fair was held simultaneously and was attended by 1,800 people.
