HUD Staff Volunteers for World Habitat Day

Louisville Field Office employees recently participated in World Habitat Day at a local Habitat construction site for an all-day team build event. Participants battled the cold and rain during the day while measuring, cutting and nailing up siding for the renovation of an existing home.

This is the third year in a row that the Louisville Field Office has participated in a team build event for World Habitat Day to help house low-income families. Much like other large cities, Metro Louisville has a substantial inventory of abandoned properties that may be suitable for this type of collaborative and mutually beneficial effort.

Habitat for Humanity is a HUD grantee that receives Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP) funding.
