HUD staff members from the Kentucky Field Office recently concluded an interoffice collection of items to be given to the area's homeless. This effort was a two month campaign to collect toiletries and other everyday necessities for the Louisville Coalition for the Homeless. Employees from every division participated to donate both new items and complimentary toiletries that they had received from previous hotel stays.

"It means so much to know that the charitable efforts of our office will impact so many homeless people and will ease the financial burden on the homeless agencies to purchase these items," said Krista Mills, Kentucky Field Office Director.

This simple effort was a huge success, as the employees were able to donate hundreds of valued items to people who need them most. Items collected include diapers, women's care products, toothpaste, 18 pairs of socks, 24 pairs of underwear, bras, over 100 bars of soap and two very large boxes full of body wash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion.
