Veletta Lenston, Public Housing Revitalization Specialist, was recently recognized for 50 years of government service. Ms. Lenston began her career with the U.S. Census Bureau in 1964 and has worked for the Department of HUD for 35 years as of October 19.

"It was one of the most significant moments during Louisville's Employee Appreciation Day last month. That kind of commitment to serve the public is commendable and needs to be recognized and celebrated," said Field Office Director Christopher Taylor.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to celebrate my golden anniversary of public service," said Veletta Lenston. "I am truly blessed to have been able to work this long. I have a wonderful job where I am able to help other people who are in need. I know what it's like because I was in the same position at one point in my life."

This milestone achievement foreshadows the 50th Anniversary of HUD, which will be celebrated in 2015.
