Lexington Celebrates 50 Years of the Fair Housing Act
On April 17, 2018, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission and the Lexington Fair Housing Council proudly celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act by hosting a Fair Housing Celebration Dinner at The Carrick House in Lexington, Kentucky. Anna Maria Farías, HUD Assistant Secretary of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, was the keynote speaker for the event. Michael Browder, HUD Kentucky Field Office Director, provided remarks about the significance of fair housing and the 50th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act and introduced Assistant Secretary Farías. During the event, the Honorable Mayor Jim Gray presented Assistant Secretary Farías with the Key to the City. Approximately 200 people were in attendance, including Police Chief Lawrence Weathers, City Council Members and Commissioners for both agencies.
