The HUD Louisville Office celebrated Public Service Recognition Week with a Derby-themed event.

Several employees received milestone service pins and certificates.

Mark Pence, guest speaker who is also featured on Humans of HUD, spoke to the staff about how their work makes a difference.

“You don't know how life changing it is for people who receive a HUD Voucher,” said Mark. “It sets their life and lives of the children in a new trajectory...The kids get a better home and a safer place to stay...The mother doesn't have to worry about her kids going outside to play and getting hurt. It sets their lives up for success instead of repeating the cycle of poverty and government assistance.”

Public Service Recognition Week (https://psrw.ourpublicservice.org/) is celebrated the first week of May since 1985 (beginning on the first Sunday of the month) to honor the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees.
