The Housing Authority of Bowling Green EnVision Center recently hosted Secretary Carson's tour highlighting the center's ongoing innovative efforts to enhance self-sufficiency on the part of residents as well as well as emphasizing the redeeming value of reading.

"I am exceedingly impressed," said Secretary Carson. "It is so important to give our young people a vision of what is possible. America is full of people with big hearts and there's a lot of facilities and resources in virtually every community that are there specifically to help other people. It is just that a lot of times they are not connected. People don't know they're there."

Secretary Carson provided advice to the students by encouraging them to learn whatever way they learn because not everyone learns the same way.

As education opens the door to opportunity housing authority student residents were recently introduced to a new way to engage in aviation and the associated career opportunities due to the STEM and aviation initiative that was introduced last month at the Housing Authority of Bowling Green EnVision Center.

"You talk about people all over the country and all over the world, but I want to talk about the people in Bowling Green, Kentucky," said Abraham Williams, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Bowling Green EnVision Center. "We have the best of the best in this room and they come here to support our kids. You are looking at people who care not just on one side of the town but the entire town...God has really blessed this housing authority to have such a wonderful community."

The tour also included an opportunity to see firsthand the mobile grocery service and cabinetry training facility and program all geared to help provide hope and opportunity for residents to thrive and find employment opportunities that will help them become self-sufficient.

The Housing Authority of Bowling Green was the first EnVision Center in Kentucky and was designated in June 2018.
