In her first week as Regional Administrator Juana Matias joined the city of Revere on April 13 to celebrate Community Development Week, an opportunity for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) communities across the nation to showcase CDBG-funded projects and programs.

Regional Administrator Matias joined Mayor Brian Arrigo and other local and state officials at For Kids Only, one of the largest recipients of CDBG funding in Quincy. For Kids Only Afterschool primarily serves youth from low- and moderate-income households in five urban communities north of Boston. They have served nearly 1,000 children during the 2021-22 school year and have been a lifeline to essential workers throughout the pandemic.

"CDBG is so successful because it empowers people and communities to design and implement strategies tailored to their own needs and priorities like infrastructure, childcare, small businesses, and more," said Regional Administrator Matias.

"This money goes directly into our community, into our streets and our small businesses, it is really going to do a lot of transformative things throughout our community," said State Representative Jess Giannino.
