HUD funds improving lives in Massachusetts

HUD New England Regional Administrator Juana Matias joined Massachusetts Congresswoman Katherine Clark and other local and state elected leaders at Citizens' Housing and Planning Association's (CHAPA) federal affordable housing policy forum. With more than 190 CHAPA members participating, Regional Administrator Matias spoke of the impact that federal funds are having on Massachusetts communities, she also spoke about her commitment to ensuring equity in HUD's programs across the region.

"When we work together to leverage resources at all levels in all sectors, we can help improve peoples' lives, with housing, access to health care, workforce development, childcare, and any other ways we choose to distribute funding in our communities," said HUD New England Regional Administrator Matias.

Congresswoman Clark in her remarks to the group said, "Like you, I believe that every person in Massachusetts and across the country should have a safe, healthy place to call home."

Massachusetts state leaders concluded the forum by giving an overview of how HUD ARP and CARES Act funds are being used in the Commonwealth to support such things as homeownership for communities of color; homeless assistance; economic development and creating much needed affordable housing.
