Regional Director Participates in
Dedication Ceremony of School Playground

On September 17, HUD's New England Regional Director Kevin Keogh joined officials from the city of Portland at the dedication ceremony for the newly reconstructed Reiche School Playground in Portland, Maine. The Reiche School campus is located in Portland's historic west end neighborhood and serves one of Portland's most diverse low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. This playground reconstruction project was made possible by the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

HUD's CDBG grants are distributed by formula to thousands of communities throughout the country, enabling state and local governments to target their own economic development priorities and.

"The CDBG program is evidence of HUD's continued commitment to provide communities with the resources they need to meet their housing and community development needs," Keogh said.
