HUD Great Plains Regional Administrator Jason Mohr joined City of Joplin officials for an award ceremony to present nearly $91,000 to provide a permanent home to veterans experiencing homelessness.

With this latest award, the Joplin Housing Authority now has 85 VASH vouchers that combine rental assistance from HUD with case management and clinical services provided by the Veterans Administration (VA). Joplin has previously received HUD-VASH vouchers to support veterans housing across the city. In an April 6 news release, HUD announced the award of more than 87,000 vouchers nationwide.

The VA Health Care System of the Ozarks (Fayetteville, AR)/Mount Vernon Community-Based Outpatient Clinic will identify homeless veterans who are eligible for the services and housing vouchers and refer the vets to the housing agency.

The City Joplin received 25 vouchers through the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program.
