Mississippi Governor Accepts $52 Million Award From Senior HUD Officials

HUD Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations, Steven B. Nesmith, and Regional Director, Brian E. Noyes, met Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour in the shadow of the State Capitol Dome on May 6, 2004. During an afternoon ceremony, Assistant Secretary Nesmith presented Governor Barbour with an award check for more than $52 million in funding for the State of Mississippi including:

  • $ 35,338,614 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds;

  • $ 15,486,611 in HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) funding;

  • $ 1,356,473 in Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG); and,

  • $ 756,000 for Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA).
