20th Annual Fair Housing, Fair Lending Conference

On April 23-24, 2009 in Jackson, MS, Housing Education and Economic Development (HEED), a Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP) funded agency, sponsored the 20th Annual Fair Housing, Fair Lending Conference at which Marilyn Moore-Lemons, the Director for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) at the Jackson U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Field Office, participated as a panelist with representatives from the U. S. Department of Justice. Additionally, Ms. Ginger Bucks, Housing Program Specialist, gave a presentation on The Need for Housing Counselors and Recordkeeping. The conference also offered workshops on Bankruptcy vs. Foreclosure; The Homeowner Affordability and Sustainability Act; the Disaster Recovery & Neighborhood Stabilization Program; and Fair housing 101. The conference was attended by approximately 150 participants consisting of housing counseling agencies, housing providers, real estate agents, lenders, and others.
